Te Wakahuia is a Primary Health Care Team (PHCT) that actively promotes shared leadership, continuous quality improvement in primary health care practice and service innovation. The overall aim of the Highbury PHCT is to strive for excellence in the delivery of Whānau Ora Services to our Communities and improving access to community health and social services, co-ordination and continuity of care and reduce inequities for whānau through a collaborative approach to service delivery ensuring a more effective and efficient use of community health resources.
The Highbury PHCT comprises a number of highly skilled professionals from various disciplines, including nursing, community health workers, counsellors, social workers, health promoters and kaiwhakaaraara, who work efficiently and effectively to assist whānau to realise their aspirations. Te Wakahuia is not a General Practice Service.

Support with Keeping Healthy
Our service offers free cervical smear tests and confidential care provided by friendly and supportive nurses. Women aged 25-69 who are Māori, Pacific, or Asian, as well as those aged 30-69 who have never had a smear test or are overdue for one (5 years since their last test), are eligible for this funded program.
Referrals to our service can be made through self-referral, other agencies, or individuals. Our location serves women residing within the Ngati Raukawa ki te Tonga Manawatu/Bulls and Horowhenua regions, including Otaki.
Raukawa Whānau Ora is a Kaupapa Māori organization that incorporates inherited values to provide family-centered health, social, and educational services. We operate from a whānau ora approach, offering free and confidential services to all who wish to access them.

Whaioro Trust is a Ngāti Raukawa ki te tonga Iwi-established Kaupapa Māori Provider of Mental Health and Addiction services. We are situated in both Palmerston North and Levin and cover the Horowhenua and Manawatū regions including Feilding through to Ōtaki.
Whaioro is a holistic and culturally grounded approach to improving whānau mental health and addressing addictions. Through sustained efforts in cultural revitalization, community empowerment, Rangahau, education, access, and equity, Whaioro Trust aims to create a future where Māori thrive in mental well-being and resilience.
We are part of an integral network of Iwi and Māori providers who work from Whānau Ora, whānau centered and strength-based approaches. All are part of the Te Waiora Collective, and Whaioro Trust is also a member of the Horowhenua Tū Tonu Mai alliance providing clinical respite.

Mana o te Tangata Trust is a free, kaupapa Māori mental health and addiction peer support service for rangatahi, pakeke and whānau. All ages, ethnicities and cultures are welcome!

Our Hapūtanga Programme walks whānau through from the Hapūtanga/pregnancy itself, to Whānautanga/childbirth to Ūkaipō/breastfeeding, caring for pēpi and how to care for yourselves with a newborn pēpi. Make a Muka tie for pēpi’s pito/cord and make an ipu/container from iku/clay for your whenua/placenta. Whānau welcome, you choose who your support people are and bring them along with you. Sessions are delivered in evenings over 6 weeks.
